The Feel of Velvet

Velvet is always trendy this time of year. I don’t think it really ever goes out, at least not in my closet. This year is no exception, because this is what I’ll be wearing Christmas Eve. There are so many fun pieces that are in velvet now too. It all depends how much of this lush fabric you like and want to wear. From pants, skirts, jackets, vest, coats, blazers, trainers, pumps and headbands, the list goes on and on.

You can check out my VELVET BOUTIQUE and see some of my favorites this holiday season!

This velvet top I found at my local Nordstrom Rack. It’s actually a bodysuit and I really like the neckline and long fitted sleeves.  A bodysuit is great because you never have to think about feeling fluffy around your mid section, Everything stays nice, neat and tucked in. I’ll enjoy wearing this bodysuit with denim or a pair of dress trousers. The tulip skirt was a find from summer and $10. A black skirt like this is a year-round skirt for me. In the summer a cute graphic tee will look great with it and a pair of wedges.

The thigh high boots round out this look, and I think it looks holiday festive. These boots will also keep me warm, since the temperatures have gotten into the 30’s.

Every year for as long as I can remember we have attended a Christmas Eve Service at our church. It’s less then a mile from our house. The church normally has 5 services that day, and we like to help, so we stay and help out during the 9 o’clock service and then attend the midnight service. We’ve lived in this community a long time, and I just love seeing so many people that are near and dear to me. I get to wish them a Merry Christmas and hug their neck. It’s something that I’m thankful for. I do have to admit I miss all my kids attending with us. My mom and dad will be there too.

We finish the night by eating at our local Waffle House. You can’t beat an All Star Special Breakfast. We make sure to take care of the wonderful folks at Waffle House who are working hard on Christmas Eve.

Then we head on home to sleep in! Sleeping in on Christmas morning is a gift when all the kids are grown and moved out.  One thing I don’t miss is all the kids getting up at the crack of dawn to open gifts. Those days are long gone, but I do look forward to seeing the grandkids faces light up as they open their gifts.

If you fancy velvet like I do, then I’m giving you more pieces to choose from down below! It’s also lovely to wear for New Year’s you all!!!

XO
