It’s funny how we are creatures of habit. In some ways this is a good thing, especially when life kinda goes haywire. So, what does that mean? And how does it relate to this dress?
This time of year, meaning the months of September and October, is normally a big wedding time. (Fun fact, my oldest son and his bride were married in September, and my daughter and her husband were married in October.) I’m always on the hunt for a good dress to wear for weddings this time of year. This year was no exception. I started my hunt as soon as I saw that fall clothes were coming out. During this season the weather is so unpredictable, you never know what you’re going to get. I always look for a dress that could be worn either in warmer weather or cooler weather.
I found this Julia Jordan dress at Nordstrom and immediately ordered it. It fits true to size, and I’m wearing a size 4. This striped fabric and the direction of the stripe works very well on a curvy gal. It also will give an illusion of curves for those of you who are built a little more straight up and down. This stripe gives this dress a more modern flare too. I also like the attention given to the detail in the little ruffle along the neckline, arm opening, waistline and along this high-low hemline.
Here are my two options on how I’ll wear this dress, depending on the weather.
If the weather tends to be warmer, then I’ll wear this dress with a pair of suede black ankle sandals. I’ll add a floral beaded clutch that has a smidge of vintage charm with this antique brass chain strap that can be worn with this roll bag. Remove the chain and carry the clutch by hand.
Should the weather turn cold, then this dress will get worn with a faux leather jacketalong with these bright red booties that were an offseason purchase in late spring. I’ve been waiting for the right weather to pull these beauties out! And to offset all the red in the dress pattern, as well as the booties, why not carry a bright blue metallic tote?
We do have a wedding that we’ll be attending at the end of October. And this is what I’ll be wearing one way or the other.
I’m grateful, at least in this case that old habits die hard.
Now for the million dollar question!
What’s your guess on what the weather will be like?
