Ushering In Fall

Ushering in the first day of Fall with this metallic skirt, white boots, classic tee, and denim jacket. It doesn’t feel like fall yet, so learning to be creative and shopping your closet helps during these transition periods.

This entire outfit was shopped in my closet, so when in doubt, go to the oldies but goodies section in your wardrobe.

Most of these pieces I have had for years. When I say “years”, I mean at least 15-20 years. I remember purchasing one of my first denim jackets when my oldest son was an infant. (He is now 30 years old.) It truly is a jacket that everyone should have in their closet. It’s iconic and can be worn so many different ways. I like to wear mine over a long sleeve tee and belted down when the weather is a bit cooler. It can also be layered over a hoodie for a sporty look or under a cashmere coat in the colder months with a white button up and black pencil skirt. Casual Fridays never looked so good. A denim jacket will be the first jacket I pull out to pack for a trip. I will tell you I have multiple denim jackets in different lengths that I have collected over time. It’s one of my go-to, must-have items.

I feel the same way about my white fitted tee. It varies from season to season whether it’s a long or short sleeve. What does matter is a white tee is the most worn tee for me, with black or gray coming in at second and third. Although I do have to admit I go through all most every season. My white tees are replaced after each season. It is just a tough color to keep looking bright and crisp over time. They get dingy easily, and when I see them on sale, I pick up a few for the next year.

The metallic skirt was something I had been looking for, for a while. I had a pair of wide leg cropped metallic pants I wore here. I had gotten them from Zara for $9.99. I thought they were a good price and really could be worn dressed up or casual. I wore them a lot. When I found this silver skirt, I knew that it would get the wear time. It hasn’t disappointed me either. I wore it here with a bow tie blouse. I’ve also worn this silver skirt with a black turtleneck and black tights and boots in the winter.

Living in the south can be challenging when it comes to the weather and although the calendars says that fall is here, the heat index says otherwise. I’ve learned over the years to live in peace when it comes to dealing with the weather. And there’s no better way, then to wear some classic pieces and a little shine!
