This summer I’ve been able to travel a little more than I have in previous years. It’s been more of a priority for us. I guess quadruple by-pass surgery will make you think about how every moment should be cherished.
About a week and a half ago I got to travel with Matt. He had to go see customers in the Carolinas and Virginia. I decided to tag along for fun and keep him company as he drove. I also had my own little agenda as well. As he went through North Carolina, I had him drop me off over at my dear friend, Olga Fogerty’s home. She lives in Concord, North Carolina. She’s not only a dear friend of mine, she’s my photographer too. We became friends when I was introduced to her, and we started working together. If you haven’t seen her work, check her out here.
I stayed at her cute little farm with horses and a couple of dogs. I had so much fun! Besides doing some shooting for the blog, we just hung out and had some girl time.
The weather was a little cooler in North Carolina than here in Atlanta. The heat has been brutal in Georgia. It’s hard to gear up to think about wearing Fall clothes when it’s supposed to be in the mid 90’s. I’m trying not to complain, because the colder weather will be here soon enough.
On this particular day we ended up in this cute little area, Birkdale Village, in Huntersville, North Carolina. This is a combination of retail shops, office and residential units. They have 10 restaurants, a big theater (16 screens) and 60 retail shops. It also has plenty of green space with huge trees and plenty of shade.
So here I am in my uniform of choice when I’m shopping in the heat. Be thankful it’s khaki shorts and a poplin top. The #ootd back home has been running shorts and a tank top.
I know when I’m trying on clothes I get really warm, so an outfit that is quick and easy to get in and out of is what I’m the most comfortable in.
It was nice to get out and walk a bit and have some retail therapy.
Clear blue skies were in the forecast. And the sun was shining bright. I realized I hadn’t grabbed my sunglasses.
We popped in to Francesca’s, and I tried on a few pairs. I found a couple that I liked and that were on sale.
There are some fabulous summer sales going on right now. I try to stock up on classic pieces like crewneck tees, a white button up (long and short sleeve), anything linen, khaki shorts and pants.
