It’s officially summertime again, and one thing’s for sure, it’s hot! So I thought I’d put together a list (and a Youtube video!) of summer shorts for women over 50 that I’m loving in 2021.
I always like wearing breezy summer dresses and skirts, but shorts are more comfortable, especially if you’re moving! I’m on the go a lot in the summer, and shorts are my go-to. Unfortunately, there’s a big stigma around wearing shorts after a certain age, but there shouldn’t be! So this summer, remember to wear whatever makes you comfortable and confident. Here are two pairs of shorts I’ve had so much fun styling this summer.
These culotte-style denim shorts from COS are so fun! Fashion trends always come back around, and culottes are back. Wide-leg shorts are also a great choice for us curvy girls. I paired these shorts with a tank sweatshirt from COS for a trendy monochromatic look.
For those days when the heat is just too much, I always reach for these linen Athleta shorts. The breathable fabric is perfect for dressing up for a day out or even pulling on over a swimsuit. The length of these shorts is a little on the shorter side, which is perfect for busy days when I’m running around. For this look, I kept it casual with a crisp white Athleta t-shirt and leather Birkenstocks. Even on casual days, statement accessories are an easy way to try out trends or add a pop of color.
For me, summer is all about spending time outside and creating family memories. So why not be comfortable and show off your style in shorts? These are just two pairs of shorts that I’m excited about styling this summer. I think the best summer shorts for women over 50 are whichever shorts make you feel comfortable, confident, and radiant! Shorts are for everyone, no matter what length or style.
