West Coast Summer Suits

Summer is finally here! It’s funny how I look at summer now that my kids are grown. When the kids were in school, I lived for all the breaks and holidays. It was a change of pace that was so refreshing. Nothing was better then that first month out of school in the summer. Sleeping in, cooking big family breakfast, going to the pool, playing summer sports. It was nice not having a schedule.

We tried to have at least one trip and vacation planned for the kids. My husband loved planning all of our trips and vacations. He probably had more pleasure planning these vacations than actually going on them.

Things have definitely changed, because now we can come and go as we please. The only thing we have to take care of is arranging a dog sitter for the dogs.

It was about 2 weeks ago Matt headed to China on business. It was crazy to me, but the doctors released him to fly only 7 weeks after open heart surgery. The trip had been planned for months, so he really felt the need to go.

I had planned a trip at the same time. I took a flight out to Los Angeles to visit with my old photographer, Chloe. She had gotten a job out in LA working for the brand “Show Me Your MuMu”. This brand is known for their Bohemian clothing (which I really like. I’m a child of the 60’s) as well as bridesmaid dress and other apparel for brides-to-be. So off I went to hang out with her.

When I travel, I like to bring one suit, because there is a lot you can do with it. I grabbed this summer suit that is a super neutral color. It has a faint stripe and is made of linen. Did I mention that this suit is from “Show Me Your MuMu?” It was kindly gifted, but what was even more special was the fact that Chloe was able to shoot this look for me. It was like old times.

You can wear it as a suit like I’m wearing it in these pictures. This blazer also looked great with denim and a light chambray top. The cropped trousers looked adorable with a graphic tee, denim jacket and sneakers.

This suit has a matching belt, so I took the belt out of the pants and wore the jacket belted down. The suit is neutral enough, so I wore it over a print dress too.

The weather was a lot cooler in California than it was here in Atlanta. I was happy to have packed the suit, because it came in quite handy.

If you get a chance, check out Chloe’s work. I’m so proud of her and all she is doing and has accomplished. One of the joys of doing what I do is meeting the most talented and incredible people. People like Chloe, that I adopted in, and she’s become part of my life and family. And as she came through, she grabbed a bit of my heart too. She’s like one of my kids now, and it’s so wonderful to have seen her spread her wings and fly in Cali!
