Trendy Denim For Spring & Summer 2022

When it comes to Denim most people that I know own at least one piece, if not more.  I’m always curious as to where fashion is going and this is especially true when it comes to all the things that I’m fond of wearing. Denim is one of those items. I really would have a hard time if it were gone, banded, or no longer available. Can you imagine a world without blue jeans?

Each new season I like to look and see the trends for that season. Let’s see what I found out about the trends for denim for spring and summer 2022.

I am a big denim lover and have been my whole life. It doesn’t help that I worked for Gap for 23 years and my passion for denim skyrocketed. Even though I no longer work for the company my obsession for denim is still alive and strong. It is why I will look to catch a glimpse of what the fashion gods and designers show on the runway each year in this magical fabric.

The trends for jeans this year are much more relaxed throughout the legs with a straight and wider leg opening. There are loose fit, boyfriend and girlfriend denim, straight leg, wide-leg, and mom jeans are making the rounds. Bootcut and flares are still here too. If you’ve been disliking skinny jeans since they made their appearance because you feel like they are binding or too fitted on you, this might be your season. Most of these jeans come in a cropped version like the wide-legged cropped ones I’m wearing in this blog post. They are the same fits just a shorter cut for the warmer months.

LOOSE FIT – These jeans sit just below the waist which would be Mid-rise with a relaxed, straight leg. This fit looks good with a fitted tank top. You can roll up the bottom and wear a pair of flat sandals.  This jean also looks nice with a pair of strappy sandals, and a blazer for a lunch with the girls.

BOYFRIEND JEAN – These jeans sit on the hips and are relaxed through the leg with a straight opening. I like wearing more fitted tops when I wear a loose-fitting bottom. They are a little sloucher than the loose fit. A cute ruffled short sleeve print top with mules and a crossbody bag will highlight these jeans.

GIRLFRIENDS JEAN- These jeans sit higher on the waist and have a slim leg that tapers in at the leg opening. This is more fitted than the boyfriend. I like wearing a smocked or peasant top with this denim along with a cute pair of sneakers.

STRAIGHT FIT- These jeans fit at the waist and are straight through the hips and thighs with a straight leg opening. This jean looks great with the legs cuffed up big, with a white button-up and a pair of pumps.

WIDE LEG JEANS- These jeans are fitted at the waist and are wide from the hip to the hem. I love this denim with a nautical blue and white striped tee and a pair of white sneakers with a red belt and bag.

MOM JEANS-These jeans fit high on the waist and a full through the hip and thighs and taper in as they get to the leg opening. These jeans to me look good with a more casual style such as a graphic t-shirt, cardigan, and sneakers or flat sandals.

Boot fit and Flares are the same as they have always been. There isn’t too much that has changed with these jeans. Boot fit jeans have been the jean I would wear in my western-style boots as well as many of my booties from the winter. I like the cropped boot fit on my frame with a heel. I think the heel helps elongate my legs and curvy frame. The flare style jean is more of a bohemian style and I like this type of jean with a top with a fun sleeve, platform sandals, and a large straw bag.

So what will be your trendy jeans will you be wearing as we move into the warmer months?

XO

Love, love, love the post, and how you styled the denim. I have warmed up to the different styles of denim now. Working on retail this season is definitely about all the new styles, fits, and cuts of denim. The flare, the straight, boyfriend Denim is very trendy this season. Boot Lucy is also making a slow comeback on the scene.

I am also a denim lover. I have probably 15 or so denim shirts of different styles. My grandson commented one time that I have so many neat denim shirts. I could live in them. A long sleeve denim shirt over denim skinny jeans or jeggings is my go-to everyday outfit. Not crazy about the looser jeans. I always think they make me look fat. I don’t always follow new styles. I know what I like and what I think I look
better in and hang on to the clothes and styles that I like. I do like the cropped denim for summer though but most of the time, I like my jeans or slacks to come to the top of my shoe heel. Just as I love turtlenecks and sometimes they are hard to find so I’ve hung on to most of mine through the years. Just me and my personal style.
