These are a Few of My Favorite Things

I love what I do……. hair, make-up and personal stylist.  For me it’s all about helping others look and feel their best. So as I started to think of future blog posts, it made me think of questions I commonly get asked by clients, friends and family. It may be helpful to you, and it may be one of the questions you’ve asked your girlfriends.

1.    What foundation, concealer and powder am I using? When I speak to women, I find that most mature women either don’t wear enough make-up or are wearing way too much. As we mature, our skin changes.  So how we take care of it is very important. And what we eat and drink plays into that as well. I can’t say enough about drinking lots of water. You want a beautiful canvas to start with. The foundation I’m loving these days is from Amore Pacific – it’s actually a Moisture Bound Tinted Treatment Moisturizer #104. I have also used the Color Control Cushion Compact in #104/Tan Blush.  It has an SPF 50, so it protects against UVA and UVB rays. The key ingredient is bamboo sap formula, which hydrates, replacing traditional water and oil base for deep moisturization. The coverage is good, not heavy, but it is buildable for those of you who want a little more.
2.    The concealer that I’ve been impressed with is Cover FX Cream Concealer. This product is lightweight, and a little goes a long way. The color selection is wonderful, 11 colors to choose from, 3 in the pink range, 6 that are neutral and 3 in the golden family. This is so helpful because dark circles come in a multitude of colors, hence so many cosmetic lines have color correctors. I also use this to touch up areas of imperfection here and there. It has high concentration of Vitamin C, which is a great antioxidant.
3.    The powder I’ve been using for the last 9 months is Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder. Its sheer and silky finish is wonderful,  doesn’t look chalky, yet mattifies your skin with a lovely translucent  look. The loose powder is good, but I prefer the compact. It’s easy to carry and less messy. The powder itself is very fine, so it probably has been milled (ground)several times to give it that great texture.

4.    What do I use on my hair, is it colored, toned, bleached? How do I get that color? Well here you go, I had colored my hair for years, since the age of 15. At 14 years old I started graying and colored it until last February. I was bleaching and toning, so I decided to see what I really had, so what you see is all nature. I use a purple shampoo, Kuene Silver Reflex Shampoo or Shimmer Lights Shampoo. It gives a slight lavender color, (I let it sit for a couple minutes, before rinsing) great for you bleach and tone people also heavy highlights and blonde balayage. It knocks out those gold or brassy tones.

So there you have some of my favorite products to use right now! Note:This is an ever changing list due to the ever changing industry that I work in, which in my point of view makes it interesting! And why I love it so!
