Thermostat Fashion

Here we are, and it’s already the second week in July. Can you all believe it? Where has the time gone? I can’t believe we’re halfway through the summer.

The month of July is my birthday month and normally we would do something like get away either to the mountains or go to the beach. This year will be a little different since we won’t be going anywhere. I have been looking through my pictures of places that we had traveled to. I’ve been reminiscing and remembering the fun times we had as I look at all my photos. I’m so glad we have the ability to capture moments in a snap now on our phones through pictures and videos. Yes, I did take pictures of the kids when they were younger, but now I have them all stacked up downstairs in a cabinet. I never got around to putting them in photo books. Probably should have done that while we were quarantined inside. Oh well, maybe one day!

This outfit was shot in Charlotte, North Carolina last October.  I was out visiting a friend, and photographer, Olga Mohr. My husband, Matt had business in North and South Carolina and had dropped me off to visit with Olga. She has a lovely home and was the ultimate Hostess. I also enjoyed walking through downtown Charlotte and looking at the buildings and architecture. Charlotte is half the size of Atlanta which makes it much easier to navigate.

These days when I go out, you can most of the time catch me dressed this way. A jacket/blazer, a tank or a T shirt and a pair of cropped trousers or jeans.  I don’t dress up too often now, but when I do, it’s most the time when I’m heading off to the grocery store or hardware store. Some of our restaurants have opened up for dining in as well.

I find that wearing a light jacket or blazer is helpful this time of year when going in and out of most stores. They keep the thermostat so dang cool that if I don’t bring a jacket, I feel like a character from the movie Frozen. Most of the summer I leave a denim jacket in the back of my car for this very reason.  If you’re not bothered by the cooler air, then disregard the above.

I consider this outfit pretty much all made of neutrals even though the trousers are leopard print. I suppose it’s because of the colors that make up the leopard print, khaki rust and black are all neutral colors. I’ve also been mixing animal prints with bright floral prints recently, and I love the mix! I don’t think I will ever get tired of animal prints either. I’m starting to look at these prints as classics like polka dots and check gingham

I’d love to know what you think!

And as always, thank you for taking some time out of your day to hang out here. I do pray each one of you is staying safe.

Blessings and love to you all!
