Did you know that from yesterday there are only 10 more Fridays until Christmas? It’s crazy to think that 10 weeks from now we will be opening gifts and celebrating the holidays. I’ll let that sink in a minute. I know it’s definitely perplexing me too. As I’m typing this, I’m still a little in shock to think how fast time is passing.
Today’s post is on this plaid shacket and faux leather pants. An easy-to-wear look and really quite warm.
Shacket, you probably haven’t heard this word, and if you have, it’s probably just this year. A shacket is a jacket that is cut like a shirt. Pretty simple right? And if you are like me, you have worn a similar look with a shirt over a t-shirt or turtleneck. That was an easy fix in years past for spring or fall as a layering piece. Now there is an Urban dictionary with words like “Shacket” that are helping put a name to something I’ve worn most of my life. And yes, they are trending and popular this fall and winter season. I given you a bunch of different shackets down below to look at.
Here’s how I’ve styled this plaid shacket. I added a cream turtle neck sweater I had from last year. This particular knit was from cabi clothing, and I’ve linked a similar one down below. This turtleneck has a looser neck, but I do have a more fitted ribbed one that I think would look just as good.
The faux leather pants will get a lot of wear this fall. This taupe color is neutral and will pair nicely with all my chunky knit sweaters and also a classic button up. The quality of faux leather has really come a long way from the days I worked retail. There was a time I wouldn’t think of wearing something that wasn’t real leather. The times have changed and so has my attitude about this subject. I do have quite a few leather pieces that I have purchased over the years. I have skirts, pants and a couple tops that are all vintage. Some of these clothes are over 20 years old. Real leather lasts forever, but truth be told faux leather is warmer to me, easier to care for and not nearly as expensive as the real stuff.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to follow along as I journal and write about fashion, makeup, hair, family and my life. I really enjoy connecting with people and making new friends. Like I’ve told many of my friends, what I wear is not for everyone, but it’s my way of expressing myself. It all depends on my mood and what I feel like that day as to how I’ll get dressed. My biggest encouragement to you is to know who you are and walk in that. I spent a lot of time disliking myself and comparing myself to others. I realized one day that I was wasting a large amount of energy and time stressing over things I couldn’t change. The wisdom I’ve gotten from living 59 years has been a priceless gift. One I hope I can share with others. Now I try and get up each day and choose to be happy and enjoy the day I’ve been given. I hope something you found on here encouraged you! I hope this sparks a fire in you to step outside of your box and try something new.
