The Joy of Blogging

This is my Easter outfit. I wasn’t planning on posting this, but it was such a great day that I felt I had to share it. I got to spend the day with my family, and we had so much fun just being together. It was such a beautiful sunny day. Everyone got together at my parents house, and even my extended family was there, and it was so good to see them. It was such a perfect day, I know I keep saying that, but it’s just how it was. I actually had time to leisurely get dressed! We had fun playing outside with all of the kids and grandkids, and this outfit was comfortable for all of our activities. It was such a sweet day I wanted an extra way to document it. Most of my days are rushed and full of going into Atlanta for photo shoots. This day was an exception.

Who would’ve thought florals for spring? How groundbreaking. Ha – name that movie – but I really do love this satin floral blouse from Free People. I bought this shirt for the palm frond print because it was reminding me of the beach and how much I wanted to be there. The blue background with the lavenders, pinks, and greens print is a great bright pop of color. I have it here buttoned up and tucked in the front with the back hanging free-flowing. There are so many other wearable options too. This could be worn unbuttoned as an over shirt or tied up in the front as well. It’s oversized and comfortable, which is why I’m glad I have it in my closet to break out on any spring day.

I paired it with a pastel denim that is, in my opinion, essential for spring. Pastels are light and great for all occasions and can be paired with any print or solid. This straight-leg cut hangs so nicely. Sometimes it’s nice having a pair of relaxed girlfriend cut jeans that just hang well when fitted right.

The accessories I picked are great with any outfit in the spring. A classic pair of round RayBan (Icons 53mm retro) sunglasses are great to have on any sunny day. And the earrings are iridescent-pearl dangles that can match any pastel color and compliment any outfit. The white sandal with the block heel is a great height, which will work well for so many outfits. There’s something nice about the simplicity of pairing the white shoe with the white belt and earrings. This mini-backpack by Rebecca Minkoff is one of my go-to bags. It’s fun to carry and is a great splash of color.

So this exceptional day with my family made me appreciate where I am in life. Fashion and style have always been in my life, but I never thought I would be blogging about it. Everybody thinks being a blogger is glamorous, and we have such a wonderful life. Well I’m here to tell you that’s not always the case. Yes, I love what I do, and I wouldn’t be doing it if I didn’t love it, but I never thought at 56 years old I would be changing my clothes in the back seat of my little tiny car. And that’s in the middle of downtown Atlanta each week to shoot for my blog. That’s exactly how it works! And nothing makes me happier in those moments than recharging with a handful of BROOKSIDE Chocolate. Taking a small break in the midst of a chaotic photoshoot gives me time to reflect and relish in how I’m doing something I love.

My new favorite flavor is the Goji and Raspberry.
