The weather in Atlanta this time of year is always so very unpredictable. In years past at this time, the weather has been in the high 60’s to low 70’s which is right up my alley. We had a snow and ice storm 2 years ago that basically shut down the city and surrounding communities, leaving people stuck in their cars on interstate roads for hours. So when it comes to fashion here, I don’t ever pack up my winter clothes until late April or early May. I also do a lot of layering because mornings are cool, afternoons warmer, and then evenings chill back up. As a stylist I always try and talk to my clients about buying classic pieces, because they are an investment. Today’s look is one of those investments. This leather skirt was a purchase 16 years ago and has gotten so much wear. The quality of the leather is soft, plush, luxurious, and I feel really sexy wearing it. It’s also comfortable and warm too.
I enjoy mixing patterns together. For example, stripes with florals, plaids with polka dots, florals with plaids etc. So I decided to put together this black and cream striped long sleeve cotton shirt with this black and cream polka dot infinity scarf. I’m all about denim (23 years of working for the Gap can do that to you!), so I added this collarless denim jacket. It’s really easy to take the jacket off as the day warms up, and tie it around my waist. When it cools off in the evening, it goes right back on again! Now, I can’t forget my shoes, these snake print booties.
For color, I was really excited to carry this beautiful bag! These bags are from a website “From Wayuu To Me” These are one-of-a-kind bags from the Wayuu Tribes in Colombia. This company is all about giving back to the Wayuu people, who are extremely impoverished. When you purchase a bag, shoes or bracelet, 50% goes back to the people for food and water.
Each of these bags is a piece of art in itself with lovely design and beautiful colors! I’m so happy to be partnering with this company to help give back to these people and families.
