Stripes and Ruffles

A pinstriped blazer, ruffle blouse, statement necklace and these trousers round out my look today. Do you have trouble finding trouser pants that fit? I sure do, and it’s one of the reasons I don’t wear them as often as I like. I do believe that will change now that I’ve tried these So Slimming Trouser Pants from Chico’s. My big issue has always been that my waist is a size 0, and my hips are more like a size 2-4. I either had to deal with the waist being too big and hurrying off to my alterations lady to have her fix the problem. Or the stride was too long, and they looked sloppy on. If they fit in the waist, most of the time they pulled through the hips and thighs. See my issues? Well, guess what – I didn’t have any of those issues with these trousers I’m wearing here. I tried on a size 0 in the store, and the waist was a bit loose, so I ordered a size 00. They fit my body so nicely. The fabric they use is such a good weight for year round wear. It’s gracious and gives in just the right places and doesn’t flatten out my backside like so many other trousers I’ve tried on do.

The striped blazer is a nice knit and easy to wear to work or with a pair of jeans and a tee. I think it would look nice too with a pair of khaki pants and crisp white button down. The stripes make it look more conservative, but the pearl buttons and the little ruffle detailing give the jacket a little feminine twist.

That is one of the reasons I chose the ruffle blouse, because it had these lovely ruffles down the front. I’m also crazy about the blouse with the statement necklace. It’s very Chanel-ish looking to me. I’m not sure that is even a word, but I’m going with it.

This necklace is quite unique, because the medallion and the strand with crystals and pearls are detachable. So the necklace can be worn with the 3 strands of pearls or with the 5 strands. Or the medallion can be worn by itself, as well as the crystal and pearl strands. It gives you a lot of options. And aren’t we ladies all about options?

I wanted a little extra color! I added the plum kitten heels sling-backs and the multi-colored red scarf tied onto my gold clutch bag.

I felt very put together!

I wish I could say the same for my house.

We began painting upstairs last night. I didn’t realize how much I disliked painting until we started. We painted every time we moved when we were first married. That was about every year. We started in an apartment, then to a townhouse, then to a flat and then bought our first home. We did all the painting each time and liked doing it. What was wrong with us? Oh my, painting at 57 years old is not like it was in our 20’s. We will finish the bonus room and then hire a painter to finish the rest.

Some things are best left to a professional.
