Snake Bit

Greeting to you all!

I want to take a minute to tell each of you who have signed up to receive my blog or who stop by to read and comment, THANK YOU! I appreciate each one of you. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without your support. I’m humbled and extremely grateful that you enjoy reading and engaging with me and my life. I’ll always be real, authentic and transparent with you. And if we haven’t become friends yet, I would love if you would sign up and become part of my community. I have lived long enough to know my passion is what I share with you all here on the blog. Fashion, hair, makeup, travel, delicious places to eat, my city, but the greatest joy for me is my faith and family. Next of course are my friends and connecting with you all. You see in the grand scheme of things that making a difference in a person’s life and connecting with people are what matters the most to me.

So with that being said, I have to tell you that I’m a perfectionist. I’m the first born and a “Type A personality”, which means what you see is what you get. I have “mellowed with age” my husband would say. I know he’s most thankful for that! And with this tendency of wanting everything to be right, I won’t put anything out on the blog I’m not 100% happy with! Haha, can you see it’s a small controversy that I battle from within?

My lack of posting in the recent week is due to being sick. I can finally say we are feeling normal again. Yes, we (my husband and I) have been struggling with an upper respiratory infection (which I tried to power through and failed miserably in my gallant effort to do that.) There was a doctor’s appointment that was made and antibiotics that were required.

The part that was really sad to me about being sick was I couldn’t see my mom and dad or the grandkids, until I knew we were totally germ-free to be around. A lot of these nasty viruses going round are so dangerous to older people and little ones. I was however able to see them both this weekend which was a real treat. And I have to say my new little grandson, Wilder, is growing like a weed. I think he, Frankie and Navy change daily! I’ve missed them.

Frankie Rae has stepped into being a big sister with such ease. She has taken her new role quite seriously. I don’t know if Wilder will realize the scope at which this has happened, until he is older. He will most definitely have two mommas looking out after him. I for one, having had three boys of my own, don’t think this is a bad thing at all for him. Boys can be quite bonkers at times.

Now that I feel like I’m somewhat caught up with you all on what’s been happening in my world, we can move on to the #ootd.

You all know I’m a pattern fiend. I adore animal patterns and incorporated them into what I wore last year, here, here and here. Animal patterns are high on trend this 2019 spring and summer season. Not only is leopard print back for another season, (YAY!) Zebra print as well as Snakeskin prints are moving in fast.

I picked up this dress a couple weeks ago. It’s still in stock, and I have it listed down below. The price on this dress is really crazy good at under $35. (This price point is really ideal if you aren’t sure of a trend and want to give it a try without spending a lot for money.) It came with a matching belt, but I opted to use a leather wrap belt to break up the look and draw attention to my waistline. I like this silhouette on me much better, because I’m not tall (5’ 6”) and a lot of one type of pattern can be overwhelming on me. Breaking it up with a black belt gives my body the illusion of better proportions and the appearance of being taller than I really am.

The boots, belt and earrings are all in black, so they stand out. The bag I’m carrying is one I’ve had for years from Gap. I chose it, because it didn’t match, since it’s in a warmer brown shade. It is a snakeskin pattern and adds just a bit of texture in a very subtle way. Truthfully I think a bright red, yellow or pink bag would have been perfect to give this look an extra ZING or PUNCH.

If you are interested in adding a trendy piece to your closet this season, I’ve added a bunch of snakeskin pieces to choose from down below. It can be as simple as a belt or bracelets, or as bold as a top, trousers or dress.

I’d like to hear if you are going to embrace some of the animal patterns this season and if snakeskin will be one of them?

Do share please! As I have mentioned before, friends share fun things and great deals with each other!

Until next time, blessings and love to you and yours!

XO
