Recharging

This outfit is from my birthday. I wore it at the beach and decided I wanted to include it the next time I shot for the blog.

So here you go!

I love tulle! I purchased the top a while ago due to my penchant for tulle. And I thought I could wear a number of things under it, and it would be fun and interesting all at the same time.

I saw the skirt a couple weeks before I headed to the beach. I had one that was similar (hemline) in all black that I wore last year (here) during the Christmas holiday season. I liked the high-low hemline and the ruffle on this floral skirt. It also was on sale which is always a good thing when you are shopping.

I like wearing florals during the colder seasons. I’m not a big winter weather person, so I’m game for anything that helps brighten up my day and makes me think of spring and warmer weather. I have a couple chunky sweaters in bright colors that I think will be perfect to wear with this skirt too. All I would then add would be thigh high boots, and BAM, you’ve got a bright and colorful winter outfit.

It’s the long weekend, and I have to admit I’m really happy. I’ve been going at a pace that isn’t one I can keep up. I took advantage of it being Saturday, and I treated myself to sleeping in. You know sometimes you have to do that! And not feel guilty.

I’ve had something going on everyday it seems for the past 2 weeks. I’ve been getting up early to head to appointments and staying up very late. I can easily run myself into the ground. I’ve been learning to say no, because I can’t do it all. But I’m bad about beating myself up, if I can’t meet everyone’s needs. We as mothers are so accustomed to doing everything for everyone. It’s a lesson I’m learning through midlife, whether I want to admit it or not – I can’t do it all. My mind says “yes”, but the body says…..”I don’t think so.”

We watched our sweet granddaughter last night, while her Momma and Dad had a date night. We went to eat sushi up the road from her house. This little one sure loves fried rice and dumplings. Then, on to the park to let her run around and get her energy out. We were already beat from our early morning workouts as we watched her run around. I definitely got all my steps in for the day and then some. She is always animated and such a delight to be around.

We ended the evening watching “A Dog’s Purpose” and what a sweet movie it is .If you are an animal lover I would highly recommend this movie. Frankie’s momma and daddy walked in the door at the very end. And to their surprise Frankie sat and watched the whole thing with us.

We said our goodbyes and headed home. I decided on my way I’d hop into bed the minute I got home. And I gave myself permission to sleep in as late as I wanted. Sometimes you just have to give yourself that free pass.

And you know what? I may do the same thing on Monday too, because it’s a holiday you know!
