Rainy Days & Fun Days

I hope you all had a great week. I have had a busy week!  The long holiday weekend was wonderful, but with less days to do the same amount of work, I’ve been hustling to catch up. I’m all about a short week, but it sure makes it hard to get everything done! This weekend has flown up on me, and I feel like there is so much to do and so little time.

I am excited that on Monday I will be heading to Los Angeles with my husband. He has a business trip, and he had a free companion ticket we could use.  I can certainly use a getaway, and it’s a welcomed treat! It’s been several years since I’ve been to the West Coast, and it will be fun to see everything out there again. I’m looking forward to seeing some new and old friends and eating some good seafood. I would love to stick my toes in the sand and walk on the beach as the sun sets. These are just a few of my favorite things to do in California. Oh, and I forgot to add in a little shopping to that list. I hope they have a shuttle that runs from the hotel, or maybe it’s a good time to figure out Uber. I’m sure I can find lots to get into while my husband works!

But before we head out west, we had a birthday to celebrate.

Last night we celebrated my youngest son’s birthday. Lawson will turn 24 years old this weekend. Wow, the time has flown by, and it’s really hard to believe the “baby” is turning 24.

Lawson’s choice was to go to Top Golf for his Birthday! Have you ever been? Well, last night was my first time going. All the guys had gone for my son’s bachelor party.  It’s a glorified driving range with a large bar and a menu with upgraded bar food to order from.  Top Golf is quite the place, and upon arriving there at 6:30pm, the line was already out the door. As we stood waiting to go in, it began to rain. We have had so much rain these past few weeks that my umbrella is my new best friend and #1 top ranked accessory.  I was worried the evening was going to be a wash, no pun intended, but it turned out to be so much fun. With the rain pouring down, we all had a turn at whacking the golf ball. Or should I sat hacking at the ball! I’m so glad there was no one there to look at our technique or form, because there was none. What we did have was a lot of laughing and giggling as we all took our turn in the rain. There is something about playing in the rain that has a way of bringing the kid out in everyone, and that’s just what it did. Even my sweet granddaughter, Frankie, had her first go at golf last night. Boy, was she proud of herself as her Uncle Lawson showed her how to hit the ball. It was a special night, not only because it was Lawson’s birthday, but because of the wonderful memories that were made.

So what do you wear to a Top Golf Birthday? Well, this is what I think works well for this type of birthday party – silver culottes! These culottes, or as some would call them wide leg cropped pants, have been on heavy rotation in my closet. They are great for wearing dressy or casual. These particular ones have gotten a lot of wear (here). I purchased them last year at Zara after Christmas. I wasn’t sure how much I would use them, but I was thrilled at the price. As you can see, they are still very much a part of my wardrobe and actually still at Zara (here) on sale. A striped tee (similar here and here), gray clutch, pearl necklace, tennis shoes and a mirrored sunnies round out the look.

So tell me what you think? I love hearing from you all. And if you get a chance to go play in the rain, go! You may be surprised at just how much fun you will have, especially when it involves the ones you love.

XO
