Mixing it Up

Mixing things up is always something that I like to do. I get bored easily, and realistically I can’t shop everyday. Well…. wait, yeah I could, but my sweet man wouldn’t be super happy with me. I do try to keep myself on a budget, and some months are better then others. This is a great way to shop your closet and get creative.

I haven’t talked about this in a while, but I will take you back to several posts where I’ve mixed patterns through the years. The first time I mixed different patterns/prints was here where I talked about living your dreams. I used a striped graphic tee with printed capris.

I used the same graphic tee in this post here, but paired it with a paisley printed wide cropped pant. And I added a blazer.

I wrote about “mixing and matching” in this post here and used the same printed capris as I wore with the graphic tee above, this time putting it with a floral top and cardigan. This outfit was a good transition outfit from summer to fall, and I could easily wear it now.

I mixed a cute hearts blouse with a darling pair of paisley shorts here. These black and white pattern shorts are a good one to grab and wear with a bright solid tee or button up. Then add a blazer to dress it up for a date night look or afternoon shopping with the girls.

In this post entitled “Switch it Up” I mixed polka dots and floral wide leg pants. I showed you how just by changing the jacket and shoes you could take this look from day time to night.

In this post here, in “Checkin it Out” I used the same pattern- check gingham, but in two different size gingham patterns a large and a small check. I added a colorful necklace and textured straw bag to balance out the use of check gingham in both the top and bottom.

The last time I mixed patterns was this post here, where I mixed a brightly colored floral paisley pant and reversible kimono for a fun time at a pool party.

Today’s look is different in that I used the same colors but in two different florals prints. The top is a small fine print, and the skirt is larger floral motif with an asymmetrical hemline that compliments the blouse.

The sandals are ancient, so I’ve found something similar and pair it down below.

My sweet photographer got my bag for me and gave to me for my birthday the day we shot this outfit. How cool that it matched perfectly with this look! And she had no idea what I was bringing to be shot, it’s always a surprise. I think that is why we work so well together – she’s learned to improvise on the spot. She helps me mix it up!
