Making Masculine Feminine

I’ve always liked certain pieces in men’s clothing. I don’t really know exactly why. Maybe it’s the era in which I was born and grew up. I do recall a period in fashion when women were wearing more of a masculine look. Then there is Diane Keaton, who made wearing a suit similar to what the men were wearing cool.  Regardless of the reason, men’s sweaters, tees and dress shirts are some of my favorite things. Oh, and the fact that I have 3 boys may factor into it as well!

So when I pulled this rust colored sweater out the other day, I was excited to wear it. I’ve had this sweater for about 10 years. I had purchased it for one of my boys (who outgrew it), so I adopted it.

It’s a Gap sweater, Merino wool, quite warm.  And with oversized sweaters being big this season, it was perfect to wear out that day.  Pairing old and new is one of the things I love to do. So I grabbed a pair of this season’s relaxed straight leg jeans from Urban Outfitters and rolled them up. I added this plaid scarf from Banana Republic from a few years back and paired it with these Stuart Weisman laced up heels.

Chocolate Brown is big in lip color this season too, so while I was out the other day, I picked up this lip color from Mac in the color, Photo with Chestnut liner.

So next time the guy in your life and or males around are ready to clean out their closet, get excited – there maybe a gem waiting in there for you.
