Life is Peachy

I had such a lovely weekend. I’m sitting here just replaying the sweet time we were able to have with some of our family.

I was able to visit with my kids that live in downtown Atlanta. We hadn’t seen each other for almost 5 months. And when you have little ones and you don’t see them for extend times, it feels like years have passed. They are growing and changing so quickly. They look like totally different kiddos since we saw them last. We spent the afternoon out on our new screened-in porch. It was finally finished last week, so I couldn’t think of a better place to hang out on a gorgeous fall day. We haven’t ordered any furniture for the space yet but made due with some lightweight Adirondack chairs we had purchased and stored away in the garage. My son brought his screen and projector ( we haven’t purchased a TV yet either) to watch the Master’s Tournament and football. We had a grand time laughing and playing with the kids.

My parents came by to finally meet their newest great-grandchild. Jimi Iris was born at the beginning of May, and with covid, it’s been a little complicated as I’m sure you guys know all too well. From the minute they walked in and locked eyes with this sweet baby girl, it was love at first sight. I have to tell you that the joy on their faces was something that melted my heart. I feel one of the best gifts in life is being a Mimi. I can only imagine how my parents must feel with 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grand babies.

I never need an excuse to get dressed each day, so I was ready for the company.

I’m always up for adventure to try something new. It’s what I enjoy the most about getting dressed everyday. I’m not here to tell you how to wear your clothes. I can’t stress that enough. I don’t mind assisting anyone if they want help. I am in no way an expert on how others should dress. What I do know is I’m here to encourage you to be yourself, and not to let anyone dictate what you can and can’t wear. I hope that by following along on my journey that it will spark an interest in you to try something new or venture out of your circle. I’ve found most people I worked with over the years find what they liked and tended to repeat it over and over again. And hear me out, if that is working for you, that’s wonderful. If it’s not broke, don’t try to fix it.

I know that getting dressed these last nine months has been very different. I know many work from home, and as long as you look good from the waist up, you are set for the day with Zoom calls or FaceTime calls. This may be challenging for some of you, and I understand completely too.

I get bored easily, so I like to change things up and be creative.

That brings me to today’s outfit, it’s quilted, it’s cute. It’s a color I haven’t always felt looked good on me. You may also notice that the back is cut-out too. The soft quilted fabric is what first drew me in. I loved the big full puffed sleeves. I’m learning to look at all the angles when it comes to getting dressed. What does that mean? Well, I look at pieces that might be strapless and think about adding a top underneath. If I’m not comfortable with the length of a dress or skirt, I might take a longer skirt to wear with it. People who learn to think outside the box are the ones I think have an interesting wardrobe.

I think a cream ribbed turtle neck would be so cute under this dress with a pair of patterned tights and some booties.

I wore combat boots, to offset the feminine feel of this dress. A chunky sneaker with some cute socks would have worked well too. Combat boots are classic boots. This particular pair of combat boots are from Frye. The leather they use in making their shoes, boots and booties is such a good quality. I have several pairs, and I’ve never had to break a pair in. They were all comfortable from the day I purchased them. I’ve been a big fan of this style of boot since I was a child, because my daddy wore them. If they can work for the men and women in the military and armed forces, then they are good for me.

So let me hear from you! How has life been going for you? This is what I love the most about what I do, its hearing back from everyone, because we are all in this together.

Blessings and love to you and yours!

XO
