Keeping it Simple

I’ve been keeping it simple in the makeup department, and it’s made my life so much easier. I can get out the door lickity split whether I’m running to the grocery store, going for a walk, or working out.

I do have to tell you that my skincare regimen has made wearing minimal makeup a breeze. My skin is in the best shape it’s been in, and it’s all due to what I’ve been using. It’s my own concoction of products that I’ve been mixing for the last 5 months. Here’s the list of what I’ve been using to remove my makeup, cleanse my face, and use day and night.

The makeup remover is from Dermalogica and removes all debris from your skin including waterproof makeup, sunscreen, and other environmental pollutants that can build up on your skin.

I cleanse my skin with a gel cleanser from PerriconeMD. I was introduced to this cleanser when I did some work with the brand. I like how it cleans my skin, but doesn’t dry it out or leave me with that tight feeling after washing. When I was a lot younger, I loved that tight feeling of what I thought represented clean skin, but in actuality, it was stripping my skin. Wisdom comes with age, and now I know what my skin needs. I wish I had learned this a bit sooner.

After cleansing at night, I use an eye cream, an retinol oil and a vitamin C hydrating moisturizing cream.

The eye cream I use is good for me day and night. I have used many different eye creams that address all the aging issues. What I’ve learned is my eye area is super sensitive. Most eye creams that are for firming, texture and fine lines I can only use three times a week at the most. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried a new eye cream, and by the third day, my eyes are either irritated, puffy or dry underneath. That’s what I mean when I say “I have sensitive eyes.” This particular eye cream helps with puffiness and fine lines. This product is cruelty free too.

The Night Retinol Oil is light and absorbs quickly into the skin. I use a couple drops and lightly press it into my face and neck. I layer the Vitamin C cream on top of this oil for the evening. I also use this cream in the winter during the day. It’s a heavier cream which works well for me in the colder months with the dry air outside and heat running indoors.

In the spring and summer I use a lighter daytime moisturizer. This type of moisturizer does the job for me, because here in Georgia we have those wonderful humid days, and that’s good for your skin. I have normal to dry skin, but during the warmer seasons the humidity tends to work in my favor, and then adding a moisturizer that helps keep my skin hydrated really is a plus for me.

I also use a vitamin C oil that I apply before my moisturizer each morning to help brighten up my skin.

The make-up I’m using every day, like I said, is simple and minimal. I’ve also mentioned before wearing make-up is more psychological for me. I feel better to have a little on and ready to conquer whatever the day brings.

I’ll give you a quick rundown on each one of the products in the picture above. The eyeshadow palette from Laura Geller is a really good one, because all the shadows are more of those natural earthy tones. It’s a great palette for everyday wear, and the majority of the shadows are very neutral. It’s a 12 well palette with six matte shadows and six shimmer shadows.

The foundation is from Milk Makeup and is a lightweight tinted moisturizer with an SPF of 30. One of the reasons that I’m really fond of it these days is the sunscreen. It has buildable coverage and what they call a “radiant” finish. It can be worn with or without powder either way it looks great. This foundation is also easy to apply – it has a roller ball at one end and a button at the bottom that you just click to dispense the makeup. I roll it on the areas I want it on my face, and then I use a brush to blend it out.

The blush is from Milk Makeup as well. And I like it because it’s a cream blush. This blush is easy to apply and blends out nicely with a satin finish. It can also be used on your lips too. Yay to any product that can pull double duty.

The Eyebrow Big Boost Fiber Gel is from Mac cosmetics and is one of the newest products that I purchased about 7 weeks ago. For those of you who have followed me, you know I’ve been trying to grow my brows out. And I have also been using a serum on them to help the hair growth. What’s great about this brow gel is it has fiber that adheres to each hair and makes the brow look thicker. It’s the newest brow product from Mac, and I really like it. I was using Shape and Shade by Mac Cosmetics, but with this product it’s the only thing I need now.

The bronzer is from Chanel, and I’ve had it for a couple of years. It goes on like a cream with a velvet matte finish. It comes in one universal color that is my all time favorite bronzer. And it will last! I’ve had this for almost two years. It’s a little more expensive, but it’s worth the price you pay for the longevity, as well as the way it looks on your skin.

The lipstick is a Bobbi Brown Crush Liquid Lipstick. It wears like a liquid lipstick all day but won’t dry your lips out. This liquid lipstick feels like a lip balm on (very light) and has a slight sheen, similar to a gloss. The color I’m wearing is Hippy Shake, and it’s a really nice mauve nude color.

I want to add mascara to the discussion, and I use two different kinds. I use Lancôme Definicils mascara on my lower lashes, because I don’t like to have the mascara transfer underneath my eye. With this product I tend to have less of that problem. I use Clinique’s High Impact mascara on my top lashes in the color black. I love the volume I can get with this mascara.

So there you have it!

I wanted to also let you know that all of these products I purchased on my own, and the opinions are all mine. If you all do have any questions, feel free to ask me. And I will do the best to answer everything you ask.

Stay safe and thanks for following along.
