A few simple thoughts before turning 55 years old. When I was in my teens and early 20s I used to think that being 50 or older was fairly old. My life would be half over, and it would be a fast downhill slide from there. I thought that I wouldn’t be that fun or stylish, because the people that I knew who were that age around me at that time weren’t all that fun or fabulous with what they did or wore. Well, guess what? I was so wrong in so much of my thinking.
I have no problem looking at my younger self and saying, “you were silly to think that way!” On the eve before my 55th birthday my thoughts go to such a different place. I’m thankful for the big and little things in life. That my parents live close by, that I was able to walk 7 miles pushing my granddaughter in her stroller today. That my husband is wonderful, and my four kids are happy. That I have a great group of girls who support me and I’ve been friends with for a long time. That I still love meeting and making new friends everyday. That I love the community I live in, and I love my church.
Is my life perfect? Heck no! I have bad days…….I get frustrated with my family, I don’t like the way I look, and I don’t like my weight etc. I choose to be thankful for the good stuff and not focus on the negative. I know who I am and won’t walk in fear!
This year I hope I can love people better, be more encouraging and make a difference in the world I live in. I’m turning 55, and I have a lot of life left to live! I am fun and stylish!
