What is it about colors that make us feel a certain way? We all have those clothes and outfits that make us feel like we’re on top of the world when we wear them. I feel like everyone can relate to this. If you have never thought about it, it’s a fun area to look into. It will help open up your wardrobe a bit too, when you understand what color does for you and says to others. When working with clients, I like to ask what colors they like or are drawn to.
Did you know studies have been done on color and how it affects us. I know that when I wear hot pink, I feel girly yet strong and confident. I decided to check and see what I could find out about the colors I’m wearing in todays Outfit of the Day. Here’s what I found:
Pink, a delicate color that means sweet, nice, playful, cute, romantic, charming, feminine, and tenderness, is associated with bubble gum, flowers, babies, little girls, cotton candy, and sweetness. The color pink is the color of universal love of oneself and of others.
Blue is one of the most common clothing colors. It can help keep you (as well as others around you) calm. It also represents honesty and trustworthiness (great qualities to have), so blue is always a great color choice. It is also why hospital employees, bank logos, and law enforcement uniforms are often in blue.
I know that the National Day for Stripes was the other day, and it’s always fun to celebrate all aspects of fashion. I’m a couple days late, but stripes get recognized a good bit in my closet a least a couple times a month.
I’m also still obsessed with my new glasses from Glasses USA. The Aviators are still trending in sunnies, so why not wear them as a fashionable accessory? Wearing prescription glasses like these gives my eyes a rest from contacts and a different look to my outfits. If you are on the web a lot, I highly recommend getting a pair of glasses with a coating to protect your eyes against eye strain. These anti-reflective coatings are helpful for anyone who is a frequent computer user. Eye health is so important at any age, and as a mid-lifer, I’m even more aware of taking care of my eyes than ever before.
