I remember when my daughter was a baby – I read nursery rhymes to her. My mind has thought back to all the nursery rhymes I read to her, and this Blue Bell rhyme popped into my head. I was so amazed by how fast she picked up memorizing these rhymes and would repeat them with me as I read them. Those were sweet times, and wow, the time has just flown by. Now she has a little girl, my first grandchild.
I have the privilege to watch her twice a week while her momma works. I enjoy watching her grow and learn. She is so very bright and like a sponge, soaking in everything you say and do. My mind must have soaked up that old English rhyme, because it just showed up in my head this week.
And since this is a fashion blog, that rhyme reminded me of the bell sleeve that has been popular this season in so many tops. I’ve seen them in all different sleeve lengths, this particular top I picked up at Zara. It has a 3/4 sleeve, which I find is great for a lot of my clients. As we age, muscle tone just isn’t like it used to be, so a lot of women are much more comfortable with a short sleeve or 3/4 sleeve.
This bell sleeve is whimsical with a feminine twist. I paired this together with these cropped skinny khakis that are very basic and neutral. They will be easy to pair with a lot of my tops, blouses and sweaters through this season to fall and into the winter. This khaki also works because the color – it doesn’t compete against the beautiful blue hue in this blouse. Simple and easy to wear, this outfit will be great office attire.
It’s amazing how the memories of our childhood can come back at any moment. It happened to me this week! I’ve decided that I love seeing the world through my little granddaughter’s eyes. I just wish time would slow down a little bit. It’s flying by, isn’t it?
