With the temperatures rising and the first official day of summer only two weeks away, now’s the perfect time to invest in a quality foundation for the sweatiest season of the year. If you’re a social butterfly like me, you’ll be enjoying all of the outdoor activities and events the summer season has to offer. But how do you ensure long-lasting makeup application once you face the sweltering summer heat?
During fall and winter, our skin is more prone to dryness, while in the summer, it’s important to use makeup that’s not going to make our skin feel suffocated. Here in Georgia, it gets really hot and humid, so lightweight foundations are my best friend- and they should be yours too! In the summertime, your skin needs to be able to breathe and a lightweight foundation will help with this. Heavy, full-coverage foundations are more likely to cause sweating, resulting in your foundation melting off of your face as the sun reaches its peak. The best change you can make to your makeup routine during the summer months is to keep your foundation light and fresh.
Whether you plan to lounge by the pool or simply be out and about, the last thing you need to worry about is your makeup melting off. If you’re looking for a good foundation to get you through the summer and beyond- I’ve got you covered! These 8 foundation formulas have coverage that’ll last through the blazing heat. Check them out below!
Radiant Finish Foundations
Trinny London BFF Serum Distress Foundation has a radiant finish that makes my skin look and feel hydrated. BFF serum foundation also contains hyaluronic acid which helps plump the skin.
Rose Inc. Skin Enhance is sheer and radiant. It has a very light coverage that makes it very easy to wear in warmer temperatures. I don’t care for a full coverage foundation weighing heavy on my skin in the summer. It’s one of the reasons that I’ve been wearing this foundation recently. It feels like skincare on my skin, not makeup. This brand is also a clean beauty brand.
Foundations with SPF
Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40: I wore Ilia all last summer. I liked that it has an SPF 40 sunscreen and that it is a serum that pumps my skin. It needs to be lightly powdered after you apply it. This serum has a super dewy finish and looks beautiful on and is especially good for those of you with dry skin.
Laura Geller Better than Bare Tinted Moisturizer: This creamy formula has a light to medium coverage. It also has a satin finish that’s very hydrating for your skin. I love that it has an SPF of 50+ in this long-wearing moisturizer.
Full Coverage Foundation
Nars Light Reflecting Foundation has the fullest coverage out of the options listed. When I purchased this at the beauty store, I was color matched but still think I could go with a little lighter shade. This foundation felt good on my skin and had a lovely glowy finish even after wearing it all day. While I don’t recommend using a full coverage foundation in the summer, I included this option for those of you who prefer this option.
The Silver Stylist’s Favorite Foundations
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation: This foundation is a light coverage foundation. The ingredients that are in this product will help minimize pores, decrease fine lines and give my skin a hydrated, smooth, and illuminated look.
Revision Intellishade TruPhysical anti-aging tinted daily moisturizer with 100% mineral sunscreen. This great five and one daily anti-aging moisturizer is great if you are like me and lead a busy lifestyle. It corrects, protects, conceals, brightens, and hydrates all in one step.
I carry two other foundations in my makeup kit that are tried and true. They are L’Oreal Paris’s Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation and Perricone MD No Makeup Foundation Serum.
As you start to venture outside to indulge in all of the summer fun, remember: no matter what the season, always start your day with a hydrating skin routine. Moisturizing your skin will be key to keeping that summer glow!
