A Weekend Girls Trip to Charleston, SC

Every time I get a weekend girls trip on my calendar, I get excited. That is to say, it’s always good for my soul when I’m able to explore a new city and connect with close friends over shopping, delicious food, refreshing drinks, and making new memories. Although spending time with my husband, children and grandkids is wonderful and important, every woman needs a good “girls trip” every now and then, regardless of age. Afterall, getting away from your normal routine and responsibilities can lead to a happier lifestyle and stronger friendships. Don’t you agree?

Relax & Reconnect with Friends

If you’ve been following my stories and posts on social media, you’ll know I recently took a weekend trip to Charleston to visit my close friend Michelle. We met a few years back as we’re both fashion and lifestyle bloggers. As a result, our friendship was instantly formed.  Over the years, it’s grown stronger as we both share a passion for all things fashion, fitness, and travel! Maintaining long-term friendships are important indicators of happiness and health as we get older. I truly cherish having Michelle in my life- she keeps me young and on top of my game!

When I first arrived in Charleston, I sat down and relaxed for an hour or so before heading out to our dinner reservations at a local sushi restaurant. It was good to unwind after a 4.5 hour drive. Next, we spent the weekend exploring historic Charleston, opting to walk to all of our festivities so we could admire the beautiful scenery.

Exploring New Places

Naturally, I love a nice atmosphere- especially when I’m exercising.  The views made it easier to get in some extra steps. We started each day with a three-mile walk, catching up on our current lives, and soaking up some rays.

On Saturday, after our morning stroll, we walked down to the Local Farmer’s Market. When vacationing, I enjoy immersing myself into the local scenes. I love buying fresh produce sourced by the local community. That night, we cooked a lovely dinner and ate on the porch. All that laughing, eating, and wine consumption meant we were exhausted by the end of the night, but it was completely worth it!

One of the reasons we planned this trip was to do a photoshoot together, marketing dresses from one of our favorite brands: Crosby by Mollie Burch. It’s a female-owned and operated company, headquartered in Atlanta, GA, whose goal is to create joy for modern day women-enhancing their wardrobe and enabling them to celebrate who they are through unique yet timeless fashion.

After our photoshoot, we shopped at the local Lake Pajamas store. The gold dress I’m wearing below is from there and is one of my favorite summer finds. Need fashion inspiration for an upcoming girls trip? I put together some of my favorite summer fashion trends that are perfect for a weekend getaway with your closest girlfriends. There’s nothing better than traveling in style!

A trip with your girlfriend can be as relaxed or adventurous as you’d like. In fact, I recommend all women take at least one girls trip a year to reconnect and enjoy the comradery of other women. Most importantly, you will without a doubt make long-lasting memories by trying new activities, sleeping in, relaxing, and simply indulging in all of the things.

I left Charleston with a full-heart, feeling happier, accomplished, refreshed, and looking forward to future adventures. Just like your marriage and relationship with your kids, friendships take work and you should invest in them. A weekend getaway with your girlfriend will allow you to nourish your friendship and build a deeper bond.
